Photographs play a vital role in every life story film.
They add context, memory, and emotional depth. But photos only work when we understand what’s happening inside them. Who’s in the frame? When it was taken? Why did the moment matter?
Most families have hundreds of photos. Some are easy to place. Others are less clear. Group shots. School photos. Military images. Familiar faces, uncertain details.

The Forever on Film proprietary documentary photo organiser
During our initial meeting, Paul will go through your photos with you and help select the ones that best support your story. From there, accuracy becomes important.
To make this part easier, we built our own photo organiser specifically for Forever on Film.
Simple by design
The system is easy to use.
You log in, click on a photo, and if there are multiple people, you can mark where you are in the image. You can add the year, decade, location, or what was happening. If you’re unsure, you can choose an approximate date.
Each photo is instantly placed onto a visual timeline that already includes key milestones from your earlier conversation.
A process people enjoy
Many subjects tell us this becomes a surprisingly enjoyable part of the journey.
Often done with help from a partner, child, or grandchild, it’s a chance to reflect and see a life take shape visually, decade by decade.
And it makes a real difference on filming day.
Because when we arrive, we’re not chasing details or interrupting stories to confirm dates. Everything is already there, allowing us to stay present, listen properly, and let the conversation flow naturally.
Letting the story lead
This tool exists to support the story, not replace conversation.
By taking care of the detail beforehand, we can focus fully on what matters most when the cameras are rolling. The meaning, the emotion, and the moments that bring a life story to life.
